Bulawayo - Councillors have expressed immense enthusiasm to rid Bulawayo of litter, and thus; restore it to its former glory, as one of Africa's cleanest urban centre.

This declaration was unanimously made by the Councillors at the recently held March, 2012, City of Bulawayo Full Council Meeting.

The issue of improving garbage collection by the LA's Cleansing Department was the most topical issue at the meeting, which was very well attended.

The majority of the Councillors actively participated in the assembly.

As has become the culture, the Mayor, Cllr T.P Moyo, Ward 22, demonstrated a high level of knowledge of Municipal Affairs as the custodian of the meeting.

He kept the house in total order, and in return, the Councillors exhibited a strict adherence to the rules governing the proceedings in the Council Chambers.

The Trust attends these municipal assemblies on a monthly basis, and uses them as a yardstick to assess the progress and impact of its interventions in enhancing the capacity of Local Government through its Local Authority Capacity Building Programme.
