A rogue member of the Zion Christian Church went bizarre and took out a knife at a church service before threatening to stab the pastor and some elders. The alleged incident occured late last month. During the altercation, the man Sabelo Ndlovu is reported to have threatened to stab anyone who dared stop him in his quest to thoroughly bash the pastor.
According to a source, Ndlovu decided to take the unorthodox route to convey his frustrations following rumours within the church that he recently had sex with one of the church elders' wife.
The allegations resulted in Ndlovu being suspended indefinitely. Ndlovu's ill-mannered exploits came to light after the chairman of ZCC ministers committee Jeconia Mpofu filed a protection order against him. The church's elder said it was not the first time that Ndlovu had become violent in church.
"Sabelo Ndlovu is a member of the ZCC, of late his behaviour has been unbecoming. He is going about threatening other members and the pastor with violence," said Mrs Mpofu.
The man said Ndlovu was failing to adhere to a decision to expel him from all the church activities throughout the country.
"He was suspended from the church but he said he will not listen to anyone."
The source said Ndlovu blamed the pastor for his suspension.
"I never thought that anyone could do such a thing. He was shouting while threatening to stab anyone. He seemed quite convinced that the pastor was responsible for what had befallen him," said the source.
Mpofu's protection order will be heard on 29 March.
