Movement for Democratic Change leader Welshman Ncube has said his party has gained more followers than it did when it was under Arthur Mutambara leadership.
Ncube said Mutambara leadership style was chaotic not understood by ordinary people hence it was costing them supporters.
"Our own assessment has been that one year on since January 2011 when we held our congress we have done tremendous progress than we made in the last five years with Arthur Mutambara as president.
People are joining the party in droves across the country and there is good response. Lies travel very fast and it does not last. But the truth takes much longer to travel but it last," said Ncube
He was addressing one of his well attended rallies in Ntepe Gwanda over the weekend were it attracted more than two thousand people.
Ncube said the "MDC is now at a stage where people now fully understand where we are coming from and going."
MDC officials say they have gained more support countrywide that could land them the presidency when elections are held.
Ncube, who is Industry and Commerce Minister took over as MDC president in January 2011 , replacing Arthur Mutambara who did not seek re-election.
Ncube â€" previously the party's secretary general â€" was not challenged after Mutambara opted to stand down.
However, Mutambara later went o the courts claiming that the elections were illegal and he is still the legitimate president.
The case is still with the courts.
