Bulawayo City Council (BCC) has warned its residents of dwindling water volumes at supply days saying water rationing is still in force.
Middleton Nyoni, the city town clerk says the city which has more than 1 million residents is currently using water way above the stipulated volume per day.
"The public is advised that the city's water supply dam levels are getting low. This is due to below normal rainfall currently being experienced.
Consumers are kindly reminded that the 2012 water rationing scheme for domestic consumers is still in force" said Nyoni.
Residents in high density areas are restricted to 350 liters per day while those in medium and low density suburbs should use only 400 litres per day.
Nyoni said the current water consumption by the city is 145 500 cubic meters per day bit it is above the water rationing of 120 000 cubic meters.
"Council therefore appeals to all consumers to conserve and use water sparingly so as to avoid water shortages" said Nyoni.
