Work towards the completion of the Joshua Mqabuko Airport in Bulawayo is in limbo as government is yet to avail $10,5 million to finish the project.
The delay is set to further delay the commissioning of the project which was mooted more than 10 years ago.
Transport, Communication and Infrastructural Development Minister Nicholas Goche said there was no activity at the airport due to the unavailability of funds.
"We hope funding will be availed soon to allow the completion and subsequent commissioning of the project," said Goche.
The commissioning of the Airport was initially set for April in 2011 then moved to June and July.
It was later postponed indefinitely.
The Airport is one of many projects associated with the veteran nationalist that have failed to take off in recent years.
Some projects include the Ekusileni Specialist Hospital which is now a white elephant.
