It never rains but but pours for two Bulawayo women who had to contend with having unwanted pregnancies and lately a brush with the law after they reversed the fruits of 'hide the sausage' game illegally.
It is reported that on 12 March one of the women, Tholakele Sibanda of house number 7269 Lobengula West, Bulawayo who at the time was six months pregnant allegedly drank a 750ml bottle of methylated spirit in an effort to terminate the "problem". As per her wishes, the problem was done away within a short space of time.
It is understood that moments after gulping the spirit, Sibanda started experiencing abdominal pains. The pains got difficult to handle which forced her to scream for help. A neighbour is said to have reacted swiftly to her distress call. Purpotedly ashamed of what was causing her pain, Sibanda turned the Good Samaritan away saying she screamed because she had seen a scary insect. Minutes later, the woman started bleeding and along came the foetus. She proceeded to dump the foetus at a nearby bush.
Eight days later, it was allegedly Duduzile Dube's time to flash out her predicament. Prior to the incident, the 20-year-old woman of house number 7567/28 Tshabalala is reported to have told her boyfriend that she was pregnant. Her man was not prepared for responsibilities and said he wanted nothing to do with the baby. The one-month pregnant Dube was advised by some people that vinegar could bring to an end her misery.
As such she drank a bottle of vinegar anbd like wise it did the trick. Perhaps thinking that their problems were over, a bigger one was looming. Sibanda and Dube were nabbed after the consequenses of drinking the liquids started taking roll on their bodies. The two appeared before the courts facing a charge of unlawfull termination of pregnancy. They were remanded out of custody to 16 April.
