A Bulawayo man beat the lights out of his ex-girlfriend after she allegedly told some close friends that he used to change into a snake whenever they were intimate. The spine chilling incident came to light after the alleged snake man Never Tembo was hauled before the courts to answer to charges of assaulting his ex-lover Nyatsa Nyoni.

It is understood that the ex-loverbirds parted ways early this year after Nyoni found it impossible to fathom her man's "supernatural antics". However, Tembo would not let Nyoni have things go her way and made relentless efforts for a reunion. The attempt became futile as the woman stood her ground. Feeling undone by his ex-lover, Tembo is reported to have on Saturday proceeded to the woman's place residence to seek redress.

As fate would have it, he found her away. The love struck man waited for the woman to return. Minutes turned into hours and Nyoni was in no show. This prompted Tembo to force himself into the house and took a nap. Nyoni whose whereabout were unknown got home at about 4am and to her surprise found her ex-lover sleeping on her bed.

She is reported to have instructed him off her bed. The man would have none of it and said he was going nowhere. He went on to beg Nyoni to reunite with him but the woman said she was not interested. This is reported to have angered Tembo who started accusing the woman of telling their bedroom 'secrets' to everyone. As fracas raged on, Tembo accused the woman of spreading a word to the effect tha he used to change into a snake whenever they had sex.

The woman reportedly did not exonerate herself from the allegations. This is said to have infuriated Tembo who got hold of an electric iron. He allegedly landed the iron all over the woman's body. Nyoni had to seek medical attention as a result. She reported the matter to the police leading to the man's arrest. Thembo was remanded in custody to 24 April by Western Commonage magistrate, Mr Richard Ramaboea.
