Bulawayo business traders have said they would not waste time attending Independence celebrations at White City Stadium as they would lose revenue.
Zimbabwe turns 32 years today.
Several curio vendors at City Hall and other shopping malls said by attending the celebrations they risk losing income.
Albert Ndlovu said "I cannot afford to attend the celebrations. To me its money first. I would tune in to the radio to hear President Mugabe's speech," said Ndlovu.
He said he makes a living through selling curios.
"It's a mid week holiday and most people would have free time to shop around. We expect to make huge profits today" said Alice Chikuni, a clothing vendor at Tower Block.
Bulawayo resident Governor Cain Mathema is expected to read Mugabe's speech. By 9:30 am soldiers, police and school children were the most people at White City.
However, some residents said they would start making their way to White City Stadium after 1 pm for a free soccer match between Dynamos and Hwange who would be battling out for third and forth position in the Independence Trophy.
