Bulawayo mayor Solomon Madlala Mguni has spoken out about Cholera, which continues to claims lives of citizens in Harare and seem to have spread into Bulawayo as well.
"So, cholera has been declared a state of disaster in Zimbabwe. Sadly, many lives have been lost. Our hearts go out to our brothers and sisters in the City of Harare which has been identified as the epicentre of the disease, and to all the bereaved families," Mguni said.
"The city of Bulawayo has reported two such cases of cholera, which I'm advised our Health Services Department has timeously attended to. I'm advised that the two people are our own residents of Bulawayo who had visited Harare in the past week. We urge our residents and visitors to exercise hygiene everytime and everywhere in order to prevent this disease."
He said prevention is always better than cure. We call upon our central government to help our local authorities to invest in water and sanitation.
