Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai has pledged to use his influence to push the release of Dimaf to ailing firms in Bulawayo.

Tsvangirai who is in Bulawayo attending Zimbabwe International Trade Fair said Bulawayo is now a ghost town.

"I have toured factories here and it's a sorry site. Bulawayo is a ghost town."

"I am aware of concerns surrounding the $40 million therefore I pledge to make sure Dimaf is released soon," said Tsvangirai.

However, former Confederation Of Zimbabwe Industries Matabeleland president Ruth Labode interjected from the audience shouting "Harare people are taking all the money."

Tsvangirai said it is critical for Bulawayo to be revived as that would reduce high rate of unemployment. Industry and Commerce minister Welshman Ncube said jobs in the manufacturing sector dropped by 16% between 1980-90 and to 14% between 1991 to date.
