A Nkulumane man, Sandile Dube (33) who endured beatings from his former teacher 17 years ago hatched a plan to seek revenge but got a shock after learning that his tormentor died in 2008.
Seeking revenge, Dube teamed up with his cousin and launched a manhunt for the teacher, identified as Chaka in court.
Armed with an address, the two went to the house in Bulawayo only to find Brighton Chaka, the teacher's son.
He told them that his farther died in 2008.
The news infuriated the two whose only solution was to inflict the pain on the hapless boy.
Western Commonage magistrate Richard Ramaboea heard that the two took turns to lash, punch and kicking the boy.
Chaka was dragged from the yard and beatings continued with onlookers warned of intervening while Chaka begged for forgiveness.
After being freed, he reported the assault to the police leading to the arrest of Dube and his cousin.
Dube is now in custody till May 8.
