The 1893 Mthwakazi (Matebeleland) Human Rights Restoration Movement (1893 MHRRM) would like to thank each and everyone who attended and participated at its 1st Matebeleland "Gukurahundi" Genocide Conference in the United Kingdom on the 3rd November 2018 in Luton.
Special thanks go to our main speakers, Mr Moses Mzila Ndlovu, who travelled all the way from Matebeleland, Zimbabwe to speak at this conference in the United Kingdom and Dr. Admore Tshuma, resident in the United Kingdom. They all gave inspirational and moving presentations on the Genocide.
Our special thanks are extended to the Labour Party MP, Hon. Kelvin Hopkins who made a huge effort to attend the conference at short notice. Our special thanks also go to St Andrews University in Scotland that has been hugely supportive.
Special thanks are also extended to Zapu and Nations without States organization representatives that attended and participated at the Conference.
We thank all attendees for participating and sharing great ideas on this unresolved and burning issue in Matebeleland.
Our special thanks also go to the 1893 Mthwakazi Human Rights Restoration Movement UK membership that has fully funded the conference with meagre resources and for making great preparations and commitment to make it a success. The spirit of Ubuntu is winning. Martin Luther King Jr reminds us that, "Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable. Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals."
Those resident in the UK are requested to stay tuned to the announcement of future 1893 MHRRM events in the UK as the organization has a rolling programme of events throughout the year meant to engage the Matebeleland community and friends of Matebeleland in the United Kingdom and beyond.
Meanwhile the 1893 Mthwakazi Human Rights Restoration Movement Student Wing in South Africa is preparing to host an 1893 MHRRM Matebeleland Gukurahundi Genocide Conference in Joburg. Preparations are gathering momentum. Details of the Conference will be availed to the public soon.
And finally our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Wisdom Mkhwanazi who is being persecuted and prosecuted in Zimbabwean courts tomorrow for daring to demand accountability for the deaths of his parents during the Matebeleland "Gukurahundi" Genocide. His sacrifice for justice is a tributary to the overall cause of Matebeleland Peoples' Demand for Truth, Justice, Reparations and Healing for the Genocide. It is therefore being rightfully registered in our collective efforts.
The 1893 Mthwakazi Human Rights Restoration Movement is unequivocally behind him and the rest of Matebeleland people in their pursuit for Truth, Justice, Reparations and Healing while strongly condemning the Motlante Commission for failing to offer Mr Mkhwanazi protection for testifying before it.
