Man to refund son in law lobola to rescue his daughter

A Bulawayo businessman has offered to rescue his daughter from an abusive hubby by paying back his son in law $10 000 to cover lobola and wedding expenses.

Jacob Ngwenya, of Nkuluname has a 25 year old daughter Jessica Dube who married  Nkululeko Dube.

Early this year, Dube's violent tendencies escalated to the extent that his wife frequently fled her matrimonial home to her parents to seek refuge.

This was after her plan of denying him sex failed as Dube resorted to bringing in prostitutes home while she was present.

Jessica's father tried to seek audience with Dube but failed and agreed with his daughter to file for divorce.

"When he said the thought he was finding a loophole to save his marriage, I offered to give him back his money. He thinks he owns my daughter because he spent $10 000 on her. $10 000 is nothing but change to me so I will give him back his money," said Ngwenya.

Jessica said she wants a divorce despite society "disapproving."

"I will not stay in an unhappy marriage to please anyone. I know our society disapproves of divorce but I cannot stay in such a marriage because I might end up dead," said Jessica.
