A Bulawayo man was forced to risk his life to evade his girlfriend's father who had returned home earlier than expected by jumping from the first floor of a flat in the high density of Tshabalala on Saturday last week, only to land on a huge lemon tree and sustain cuts and bruises after being pierced and scratched by thorns and branches.

The crash-landing of the man, Mr Ntokozo Ndlovu, and his cry for help did not escape his girlfriend's father, who rushed to investigate what the commotion in the backyard was all about. The unsuspecting father helped his 'SON-IN-LAW' to get down from the free and demanded to know what he was doing and how he got entangled in the lemon tree.

Mr Ndlovu had to lie to escape being beaten, he said he had got on the tree for lemons to cure his flu but misfortune befell him as the tree branch that he was standing on broke, resulting in him falling.

According to sources, Mr Ndlovu was invited by his girlfriend, Miss Sophie Moyo, after her father had gone out for a drink at Basic Leisure centre. Mr Ndlovu thought he would not be detected but the night did not end as expected as the two lovebirds were disturbed by the sound of Miss Moyo's father's car being parked in his makeshift garage.

Mr Ndlovu CONFIRMED the incident and said it was a miracle that he did not seriously hurt himself when he landed on the lemon tree.

"I panicked and jumped without thinking, if I get in a similar situation again I will find a place to hide, maybe in the bedroom under the bed. What I did was stupid, I am lucky I escaped with cuts and bruises. I could have hurt myself seriously or I could even have died," said Mr Ndlovu.

Ndlovu revealed that his 'father-in-law' to be, had a reputation for being violent and RUTHLESS!
"Had he caught me he was going to thoroughly beat me to a pulp. I once saw him beating a man in a fight, he left him battered and bruised. I risked jumping than to be at his mercy. I am lucky that he was drunk otherwise if he was sober he could have been suspicious. It was my first time to go to my girlfriend's house and MY LAST! I am not going back again, if my girlfriend wants to see me she must come to my place from now on. Besides risking being caught, what we did was disrespectful," he said.

Miss Moyo refused to comment about the incident and fumed saying: "I am not going to discuss my private life with you. What I do in private and who I go out with is my business NOT YOURS! You choose to make money through other people's misfortunes; you should be ASHAMED of yourselves. I do not want to get into trouble with my father please leave me alone."
