Movement for Democratic Change President Welshman Ncube's praise poet Dumisani Mhlanga has come under intense scrutiny from suspected security agents over his poems.
On Monday, Mhlanga received several phone calls from people warning him to be careful with his poems.
That was before he had his mobile phone stolen at St Patricks in Makokoba while performing during Cultural Week.
"I received strange calls in the morning with similar messages. They said "be carefull of what you are saying at the rallies."
"You won't last" Mhlanga said he was told.
However, the dreadlocked poet said he is not shaken.
"Am just a poet not a politician. Am just reviving Ndebele culture which says an elder should not just stand up and address a crowd without anyone, let alone a poet introducing him" he said who spent the weekend at MDC rallies.
Mhlanga started last year to move around with Ncube and that caused a stir within political circles.
In his poems Mhlanga says Ncube would be the next Zimbabwean leader and mocks Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai facial looks.
