MDC-T youth assembly secretary-general, Promise Mkwananzi says his party will not allow Zanu-PF to unleash violence against its supporters like what happened in the June 2008 presidential run-off elections campaign as they will fight fire with fire.
Mkwananzi made the remarks while addressing more than 700 MDC supporters during the Day of the African Child commemorations held in Bulawayo on Saturday.
"As the MDC, we will not allow the unleashing of violence against our supporters. We will defend our vote and our people this time. So we want to tell Jabulani Sibanda and other perpetrators of violence in Zanu PF that this time, we will not sit and watch.
"We are also not going to allow President Robert Mugabe to cause any delay in the release of election results," Mkwananzi told party members who had converged in Makokoba.
Zanu-PF is clamouring for elections this year but Sadc, the facilitator of the Global Political Agreement (GPA) insists that elections can only take place after all the necessary reforms have been implemented.
MDC supporters including party leader, Morgan Tsvangirai, have borne the brunt of state-sponsored political violence from security forces and Mugabe's supporters since 2000.
