A 27-year-old Bulawayo man surprised all and sundry by dating a woman who is about 2 and half times older than him and even older that his own mum.
Ponners Ndlovu who resides in Tshabalala has become the talk of the suburb after his affair became public and was disapproved of by older women in his community. His uncle, Trust Ndlovu told this publication that Ponners goes to the woman's house everyday only to return home to change clothes.
"If you investigate this you might find out that MaPmofu bewitched our son. Who in their right mind goes for a woman who is older than his own mother and is not ashamed of it? We have tried everything in our power to stop this shameful relationship but failed. We have even involved the police and women from Tshabalala. They demonstrated against this, but he has not changed his mind," said the uncle.
In an interview, the boyfriend's mother said her family gave their child everything he wanted for comfort and did not understand why he chose an older woman as a lover.
"His other siblings are in the diaspora. It's not like he has to work for anything so why is he disgracing us like that? What pains me more is the way he disappeared. If you were his mother how would you feel?" said Ponner's mother.
His uncle said what pains him was that his brother was contemplating relocating from Tshabalala because they cannot bear with the embarrassment. "My brother said he is thinking of selling that house or even swapping it with a person from another suburb."
When this reporter approached Ponners he threatened him with unspecified action if this story ever sees the light of the day.
"Is that why you called me from my beer drink. If you write that story I will deal with you," threatened Ponners.
