More than 60 foreign buyers have confirmed their participation at this year's edition of Zimbabwe's premier tourism exhibition, Sanganai/Hlanganani World Travel and Tourism Africa Fair next month, Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) spokesperson Mr Sugar Chagonda has said.
The four-day exhibition will be held from 18 to 21 October in Harare. October 18 and 19 are trading days while the rest are open to the public.
The annual Tourism Trade Fair showcases a wide variety of Africa's tourism products and attracts international buyers, exhibitors and visitors from across the world.
Mr Chagonda told New Ziana that more international buyers and exhibitors were expected to register their participation at the annual exhibition to be held at the Harare International Conference Centre.
"Over 60 buyers and 20 media houses from across the globe have so far confirmed participation at this year's exhibition. We have buyers coming from the United Kingdom, Singapore, Italy, the United States, among others," he said.
Mr Chagonda said the fair would kick off with a street carnival in the city where stakeholders in the tourism industry will participate on 17 October.
He also said this year's exhibition had generated a lot of interest from regional and international buyers.
"We are very happy with the response we are getting following the winning of the co-hosting agreement of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) General Assembly.
"We however continue to urge local companies to take part in the exhibition so that we showcase the best Zimbabwe products," he said.
This year's event will be held under the theme "Celebrating African Tourism diversity."
The fair is important as it is a chance for the country to market itself to the outside world ahead of the UNWTO general assembly to be held next year in the resort town of Victoria Falls. â€" New Ziana.
