ZANU PF will this Saturday launch the Anti-Sanctions Campaign in Matabeleland as they continue with their desperate bid to win back the love and leniency of Western countries.
President Robert Mugabe launched his Zanu Pf Anti-Sanctions Campaign in Harare two weeks ago, which was beamed live on Zanu Pf's propaganda television station, ZTV.
In the petition, Mugabe is coercing people to append their signatures and identification numbers as a way of registering their opposition against the embargo while demanding their immediate removal.
The governors of the three Provinces in Matabeleland who are also in the Zanu Pf Central Committee revealed that they would launch the campaign this weekend before people could sign the petition.
Cain Mathema said the launch would be at Stanley Square on Saturday morning.
"We are launching the Anti-Sanction petition on Saturday at Stanley Square in Bulawayo. We are still in the process of identifying the venues that would be used for the signing of the petition. However, most people are going to sign from their local schools," said Mathema.
Angeline Masuku said the province's campaign would be launched at the Gwanda District Club on Saturday.
"The launched would be held at the Gwanda District Club on Saturday at 10am and we are expecting our people from all the seven districts to come and be part of the launch of the anti-sanctions campaign and sign the petition," she said.
Masuku said Zanu Pf's Provincial Coordinating Committee met on Saturday last week and identified centres where people will sign the petition.
Thokozile Mathuthu said the province would launch the campaign at Lupane Centre on Saturday morning.
"We will be launching the anti-sanctions campaign at Lupane centre on Saturday and the occasion will be presided over by Rugare Gumpo.
Gumpo is Zanu Pf's Secretary for Information and Publicity.
Mathuthu said there is overwhelming response from Zanu Pf loyalists adding; 'because of that, a few delegates will sign the petition during the launch to save time, and the rest will sign at their respective centres that have already been identified.'
Zanu pf Central Committee member who is also Midlands Governor, Jason Machaya revealed that he had set up committees at provincial, district and ward level to identify the convenient centres where people can sign the petition.
Zanu pf is hoping to present more than two million Anti-Sanctions signatures before the embassies offices and the Sadc, seeking the resolution of the embargo.
