TWENTY-THREE-YEaR-old Tatenda Musiiwa is appealing for financial assistance after she was diagnosed with Cerebral oedema and is in urgent need of brain surgery.
She is hospitalised and is unconscious.
Cerebral oedema is a condition that is caused by a build-up of fluids around the brain, causing an increase in pressure known as intracranial pressure which can restrict the flow of blood in the brain.
Her mother, Nelia Chawara told NewsDay that Tatenda has a fivemonth-old baby which requires food assistance as it depends on milk.
"Tatenda started by experiencing excruciating headaches which were followed by vomiting and the headaches began on April 22. We took her to hospital and various medical tests were conducted, including an MRI scan which diagnosed the illness," Chawara said.
"The brain surgery requires US$3 950 and on a daily basis an amount of US$80 is required to treat her."
Chawara said those willing to assist could contact her on +263 774 076 745.
