Massive investment for Matobo farmers

MATOBO small-holder farmers in conjunction with the local business community have completed the expansion of the Valley Irrigation Scheme after clearing an additional 60 hectares of land.
The scheme now has 239 hectares available for cultivation and 130 hectares is now under 19 000 pecan nuts.
This followed the injection of US$500 000 by Credcorp Investment and Southern Pecans towards the establishment of a massive pecan nuts plantation
Matobo district development coordinator Obey Chaputsira said: "The expansion of Valley Irrigation Scheme by 60 hectares has been completed and they have finished clearing the land.
"This project is done in partnership between the businesspeople and the community.
"About 19 000 pecan nut trees have been planted on the 130 hectares through partnership between the community and business partners."
