PLAYER agent Omega Sibanda has dragged two Zimbabwe Saints administrators to court on allegations of theft of signing-on fees for a player.
Sibanda, who is the manager of Links International, a player agent company, is accusing Gibson Homela and Felix Dzumbunu of stealing $6 000 which was part of the signing-on fees for Evans Rusike who he sold to Hwange Football Club.
Rusike was a Zimbabwe Saints player in 2010 and was cleared by the club to join a team of his choice at the expiry of his contract in December 2011.
Sibanda subsequently negotiated with Hwange FC who bought the player for $18 000.
Homela and Dzumbunu, allegedly went behind Sibanda's back and claimed $6 000 part payment for the player.
The docket was taken to Tredgold Magistrates' Court yesterday and the case was set down for hearing on 24 October when Homela and Dzumbunu are expected to appear in court.
Allegations by the State are that in 2010, Zimbabwe Saints had a contract with Rusike. The contract expired in December 2011 and the player was given a clearance letter stating that he could join a team of his choice.
According to the docket, Rusike was managed by Sibanda during that period.
It is alleged that Rusike and Sibanda entered into a contract that made the latter his manager and with that power, Sibanda engaged Hwange FC so the player could join the coalminers.
Sibanda and Hwange FC agreed on a signing-on fee of $18 000 and Hwange FC paid a deposit of $9 000 which was deposited in Sibanda's account. The balance was to be paid later.
When Homela and Dzumbunu got wind that Hwange FC had paid part of the money to Sibanda and was due to pay the remainder, they allegedly hatched a plan and decided to intercept the money.
It is alleged that the two acting in common purpose sent an email to the club stating that the player did not belong to Sibanda but to Zimbabwe Saints.
The two then allegedly directed Hwange FC to pay the balance into the Zimbabwe Saints' ZB Bank account, which Hwange FC did and deposited $6 000 on 18 August this year.
The offence came to light when Sibanda made a follow up of the balance and was told that $6 000 had been paid to Zimbabwe Saints.
A report was made to the police leading to the arrest of Homela and Dzumbunu while the Zimbabwe Saints bank account was frozen.
