Bulawayo Agenda, this week launched its anti-violence and anti-selection application of the law petition.
"Bulawayo Agenda is calling all progressive Zimbabweans to append their signatures to the anti-violence and anti-selection application of the law by the police and soldiers. The citizens of Zimbabwe should be undeterred in their endeavours of the democratization of the country. Our police is a force and not a police service because they are not serving the people but are using force on them," said Thabani Nyoni, the coordinator for Bulawayo Agenda.
Nyoni said the petition would be handed over to the three principals in the inclusive government: President Robert Mugabe, Prime Minister, Morgan Tsvangirai and Arthur Mutambara, the Deputy Prime Minister as well as the Co-Ministers of National Healing. Nyoni dismissed the recently launched Zanu anti-sanction campaign as a political gimmick which is certainly bound to fail.
"The real sanctions which we have in this country are those which have been imposed by Zanu (PF) on the ordinary people of Zimbabwe. Zanu (PF) has closed all democratic space in this country for its own people. There are no worse sanctions that persecuting your own people," said Nyoni. The coordinator said since the lunch of the campaign, the response had been overwhelming from the public.
