Guta Ramwari chairperson dies

GUTA Ramwari Zvimiso senior evangelist and supreme council chairperson, Mrs Annah Nyoni has died.
She was 102.
Family spokesperson and grandchild, Mr Paelinda Madina, said his grandmother died on Thursday at her home in Sunninghill, Bulawayo, after succumbing to diabetes.
He described her as a committed and active Guta Ramwari Zvimiso member.
"She was a loving person who respected everyone and dedicated her life to the church. She worked hard to motivate the youths in the church and assisted many marriages within the church," said Mr Madina.
Guta Ramwari Zvimiso Secretary General, Evangelist Barnabas Chamoto said the church had lost one of its great pioneers.
"The church has lost one of its strong leaders who contributed immensely to the growth of the church. Mrs Nyoni was a dedicated leader who was an inspiration and unifying force in the church," said Evangelist Chamoto.
Mrs Nyoni was born on 10 October 1910 in Tshankwa, Bulilima District and did her primary education at Tshankwa Primary School She joined Guta Ramwari Jehovah in 1958 and in 1960 she was part of the 12 chosen members who supported the inception of evangelist Taxwell Tayali, as the church leader after the death of the church leader evangelist Mai Chazi.
In 1962 she and other church members moved from Guta Ramwari Jehovah in Entumbane and formed Guta Ramwari Phase two in Mpopoma South. During the same year, she helped open Guta Ramwari church branches in Matabeleland, Botswana and Zambia.
In 1993 she was elected to be the supreme council chairperson for the church. In 2005 she and other church members formed Guta Ramwari Zvimiso in Mpopoma South. She held the position of senior evangelist and chairperson of the supreme council for Guta Ramwari Zvimiso until her death.
Her funeral service will be held on Saturday at Guta Ramwari Zvimiso Stand 50348 Mpopoma South at 7.30am followed by burial at Athlone Cemetery.
A son, 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild survive her.
Mourners are gathered at House Number 54751 Njube.
