In a suspected case of black magic, New Luveve residents in Bulawayo were left thunderstruck when they found 'miracle groceries' in a nearby bush for two consecutive days.
The residents, however, suspect goblins got lost with the loot. The residents reportedly woke up to the shock of their lives on 28 December when they found two bags full of groceries opposite their houses near a bushy area.
One resident, who identified himself as Vanessa Moyo narrated the 'miracle grocery' incident.
"It was around 8am when children came rushing saying there were groceries at our gate. I was surprised because I am the one who had swept the yard in the morning. When we got to the gate, they then led me to a bushy area opposite our gate and showed me two bags full of groceries which included rice, cooking oil, soap and lots more," she said.
She revealed that people were afraid to pick up anything as they were of different views with some suspecting that someone drunk had lost them, while some suspected acts of satanism.
"A gang of teenage boys who happened to be passing by, later picked up everything and left," she said.
Surprisingly, on the following day at the very same place, there were more miracle groceries and clothes.
"People were left with no choice but to link the incident to black magic. No one wanted to move closer to the bags as strange and scurry stories were being told. On 29 December, our area was dead silent as all the gates were locked and no children were on the street in fear of the groceries," she said.
The groceries were left for the whole day and no one picked them until sunset, but on the following day they were nowhere to be found.
"We wonder who collected those groceries. Everyone's assumption was that maybe when the goblins brought the groceries for the third time and after finding them still untouched, they realised that they had been lost and never returned again," she added.
