Condolence Message on the late VP Hon. John Landa Nkomo
I have learnt with sadness of the passing away of the Honorable Vice-President of Zimbabwe, Comrade John Landa Nkomo, on Thursday 17 January 2013.
In my personal capacity and on behalf of the Zimbabwe African People's Union (ZAPU), I would like to extend my sincere condolences to the family of the late Vice-President, the Government, and the ruling party.
Comrade John Nkomo devoted a lot of his life to the struggle for freedom and independence and demonstrated consistent maturity and magnanimity that was difficult in stressful circumstances. I can also attest to the great benefit we derived from his efficiency and fair play as an administrator during the latter parts of the struggle in our exile offices. Over and above all I wish to salute his personal decency even in the face of political differences, a quality that has endured and will remain a challenge to emulate among political competitors. His demeanor spoke volumes, to the effect that political arguments are not advanced by political acrimony and denigration of opponents.
My His Soul Rest in Peace
