ZANU-PF Bulawayo province has reportedly suspended two of its senior officials for alleged insubordination and fraud.
The party's provincial secretary for transport and welfare, Langelihle Mathe and secretary for finance Simon Khabo, were suspended during a meeting at Davies Hall on Sunday.
Party members who spoke to Chronicle on condition of anonymity said the decision was made by senior officials who attended the meeting.
The two are yet to receive their suspension letters.
Mathe reportedly had altercations with the party's provincial chairman, Killian Sibanda over the use of party vehicles while Khabo is being charged with starting a fire in his office, allegedly to conceal evidence over some missing party funds.
Sibanda declined to comment on the issue saying the national leadership had not been informed about the developments.
Contacted for comment, Mathe said he was informed about his suspension by some party members who attended the meeting.
"I was away at my rural home when the decision was taken by the provincial leadership. Some party members who attended the meeting told me that I had been suspended, but I am yet to receive the official letter," he said.
"However, I know that the suspension is in connection with some misunderstandings that I had with the chairman over the misuse of the party's vehicles."
Mathe said he was not guilty as it was his mandate to protect the party's vehicles.
"As the secretary for transport and welfare, I am mandated to see that party members, including the chairman, do not abuse party vehicles. Two weeks ago the chairman took a vehicle and hired a driver who is not a party member to drive him to Harare. The matter roped in the police and the chairman was told to surrender the keys to me, which I gave to the driver. Another vehicle, which was in the chairman's possession, was also involved in an accident and he did not report the matter to my department, which I felt was not professional," said Mathe.
He said he had since written a letter to the national leadership, including the national secretary for transport and welfare Nicholas Goche to explain the challenges he was facing in the transport department.
Efforts to get a comment from Khabo were fruitless as his mobile phone was not reachable.
