Female soldier nabbed for withdrawing $5 000 'miracle money' from her bank account

In a case of believing on 'miracle money' being deposited into bank accounts by some Christians, a 28-year-old female soldier was arrested after she allegedly withdrew nearly US$5,000 which had been 'mistakenly' deposited into her bank account.
The money which allegedly cost her freedom was reportedly deposited by her former employer, the Ministry of Home Affairs, where she was employed as a police officer before she resigned and joined the Zimbabwe National Army.
Chipo Mangwiro, who resides at Ross Camp in Bulawayo, was hauled before Bulawayo magistrate Mr Tawanda Muchemwa facing charges of theft.
Allegations against Mangwiro are that she had a brush with the law when she allegedly withdrew cash amounting to US$4,983 deposited by her former employer, Ministry of Home Affairs when she knew pretty well that she had resigned from the force, oit is alleged.
The State case, as presented by prosecutor Mr Robin Mukuru was that from the period 2010 to May last year, Mangwiro who was once employed as a police officer was withdrawing money which was being deposited into her account as her salary.
The matter was reported to her former employer leading to her subsequent arrest and the amount in question was not recovered. For the offence, Mangwiro was not formally charged and was remanded out of custody on US$100 bail.
