A ditched man from Bulawayo's Entumbane suburb allegedly went berserk and allegedly stabbed his ex-lover with a knife for refusing to return money he had 'spoiled' her with while they were still in love.

This was heard when the accused, Mpiyabo Moses (49) of 31956 Entumbane, was not asked to plead when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate, Mr Takunda Mtetwa, facing physical abuse charges.

It is the State's case as presented by Mr Admire Chikwayi that on 18 February at around 9pm in Mzilikazi, Moses visited his former girlfriend, who is 29 years old. The court heard that Moses started demanding all the money that he had spent on his former girlfriend from the day they started dating to the day they broke up.

Too high was the figure that the woman could not afford to restitute the money such that she openly told her former boyfriend that she would never raise the money. It is understood that this did not go down too well with Moses who seemingly felt 'milked and used'.

In a bid to supposedly teach the woman not to accept 'gifts and funds' from men if she would not be able to pay back, Moses reportedly produced a sharp knife and mercilessly stabbed his former lover four times, it is alleged. He is said to have stabbed the woman three times on the hand that 'accepted' the gifts, and once on the leg, My Zimbabwe has learnt.

The woman, after enduring the ruthless lesson, took herself up, limped to the Mzilikazi police station where she reported the matter. She was rushed to Mpilo Hospital for medical attention.

Police officers went on to arrest Moses before he was hauled to court. He was remanded in custody to 18 March.
