Luveve residents in Bulawayo fear for their children's lives following a blood curdling incident where a girl's eyes closed after allegedly seeing a goblin at her home and since then a number of children in the suburb have apparently fallen victim.

The girl (12) reportedly met a dreadlocked goblin when she was preparing for school and immediately developed boils on her eyes resulting in her losing sight for a while.

"I was going to bath when I saw a very very short dreadlocked creature standing under the guava tree. It just greeted me before running away and soon after I screamed my eyes began itching," said the visibly baffled child.

She was reportedly saved by a neighbour who found her still traumatised.

The girl's father revealed that they were still in shock at what had transpired as his child almost became blind after the incident.

"She is the only person who knows what happened and we just heard everything from her after she developed boils and her eyes were completely closed for some time. Some pus came out of her eyes and that is when they opened but few days later the boils started developing again. I had no money to take her to the clinic and as a Christian I believe God will intervene," said the father.

A neighbour who was the first to see the girl after her encounter with the said goblin said her 8-year-old child has developed boils too.

"I do not understand what's happening to my child as she has also started developing boils on her eyes. Of course on her part she never saw the goblin as I am the one who found the first victim frozen in shock and ferried her into the house. Surprisingly, it seems the alleged goblin is targeting children only as most of them who have spotted it have developed boils under armpits. I took her to the clinic and we were referred to Richard Morris and they said I should hurry and save my child's eye sight," said the troubled mother.

Other residents said the children were telling the truth about the goblin because some women had also spotted it running towards Luveve Cemetery.

"I think this goblin is targeting children and we are afraid that those who see it might end up blind," said a local resident who identified herself as MaDube.
