A BULAWAYO woman reportedly cheated death by a whisker after she was savagely assaulted by her 48-year-old husband who accused her of making a "lot of noise" in bed.

This was after the woman Dorica Mhuka (age not given) of Nguboyenya was sleeping with her husband Cephas Malunga. Malunga, it is alleged brutally descended on his lover after she refused to take heed of his instructions that she caused a lot of noise when she stretched her legs wide while in bed.

The alleged noisemaker Mhuka was reportedly assaulted with fists on the face before her seemingly abusive husband choked her. She went and reported the matter to the police leading to the arrest of her husband.

For the offence Malunga who is employed at Bellevue Spar was brought before Bulawayo magistrate Mr Takundwa Witness Mtetwa.

He was charged with physical abuse as denned in section 3 (1) (a) as read with section 4 of the Domestic Violence Act Chapter 5:16. He pleaded guilty and the matter was late deferred for plea recording.

Allegations against Malunga as presented to the court by prosecutor Mr Malvern Nzombe are that he had a brush with the law when he ruthlessly" attacked his wife accusing her of making noise by stretching her legs.

It is alleged that on 16 April at around 5 am the two lovebirds were in bed when the complainant stretched her legs apart prompting the accused to reprimand her saying the act of widening legs was causing a lot of noise.

It is reported that the complainant hit back at the accused saying his complaints were baseless as the stretching of one's legs in bed cannot cause noise.

As a result a misunderstanding reportedly ensued between the two parties leading them to exchange harsh words.

Malunga in a fit of anger is alleged to have brutally assaulted his wife with fists on her face and head before In forcibly held by the neck.
