A CITY woman who was reportedly based in Canada for the past ten years allegedly received a rude reception back home when she discovered that the house she bought while overseas was sold to someone by its former owner.

This was after the previous owner Norah Ndlovu (40) of Number 10096 Nkulumane 11 allegedly refused to change the ownership of the house despite the fact the foreign based woman, Tsitsi Muhamba, had fully paid for it through a local law firm.

The house at the centre of the controversy which has spilled into the court is reportedly at stand number 3637 Nketa 7 and was sold to Innocent Moyo who have since occupied it and successfully changed its ownership.

Ndlovu, for the offence of trying to fraudulently enrich herself by selling her house to two people, was brought before Bulawayo magistrate, Miss Marylene Mtshina, to answer charges of fraud as defined in section 136 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23.

Proceedings of the fraud case are that sometime in March 2004 Muhamba who was in Canada reportedly instructed one of her relatives Luke Mangambe to look for a house to buy on her behalf.

It is reported that Mangambe proceeded to Nketa housing office where he saw a poster stating that the house in question was for sale and by then the prize was pegged at Z$38 000 000.

According to court papers the amount is now equivalent to US$8 672.

Mangambe is alleged to have phoned Muhamba who got interested and asked to pay in instalments through a local law firm and Ndlovu is reported to have agreed to the terms.

It is further reported that when Muhamba finished paying for the house in 28 September the same year, Ndlovu is alleged to have refused to change its ownership before she sold it again to Innocent Moyo who reportedly managed to change its ownership.

The offence came to light when Muhamba returned home and found that "her" house was being occupied by Moyo and she went and reported the matter to the police leading to the arrest of Ndlovu.
