STATISTICS availed by the ZITF organisers show that over 45 000 people have gone through the gates.

ZITF chairman Mr Bekithemba Nkomo disclosed that there was, however, a slight decrease in the number of exhibitors, a development he attributed to the increased number of foreign companies who requested bigger stands.

"The ZITF ends today on a satisfactory note; the exhibition went according to plan (and) as indicated earlier, ZITF 2013 is similar in most respects to last year's edition," said Mr Nkomo.

"The final statistics are as follows; the exhibition occupies just over 49 000 square metres, a favourable situation compared to last year's figure of 48 697.

"We have a grand total of 656 exhibitors, of these 157 are foreign.

"The drop in the figures compared to last year's 755 is a result of many foreign companies taking up bigger stands."

Mr Nkomo disclosed that business visitors came from countries such as Australia, China, Bangladesh, United States, Britain, Italy, South Africa, among others.
