A 38-YEAR-OLD Bulawayo businessman was arrested for allegedly threatening to "fix" his 34-year-old ex-lover with unspecified action following a heated domestic dispute.

The frightened woman, Sindi Goremykin, claimed that she was now living on borrowed time after her ex-lover Sean Peter Allan Cahill reportedly read her a riot act saying he was going to put her through a "difficult" test and wanted to see if she was going to handle it.

Cahill who resides in Burnside is reportedly a proprietor of a number of butcheries in the city.

The threat was heard when Cahill appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Mrs Gladmore Mushove charged with two counts of intimidation and physical abuse.

According to court papers the torture is alleged to have started sometime in April last year.

It is alleged that during that month on an unknown date the complainant was at home watching television when the accused arrived and asked her if she had seen his car keys.

The complainant is alleged to have told her ex-lover that she was unaware where he had placed them.

The response reportedly courted the ire of the accused who forcibly grabbed the complainant by her arms and twisted them before he allegedly choked and threatened to kill her.

It is reported that again on an unknown date in September the accused came home and locked the doors before he forcibly grabbed the complainant and hit her against the wall.

He is alleged to have repeatedly threatened her with death and fearing for her life Goremykin moved out of the house together with her children leaving the seemingly abusive Cahill alone.

The court heard that on 19 April Cahill phoned his ex-lover threatening her saying he was going to put her through a test and wanted to see if she was going to handle it.

The fearful complainant asked the accused what "type" of test he was going to give her and after failing to get a satisfactory explanation she went and reported the matter to the police leading to the arrest of Cahill.

Cahill who is denying the charges was not formally charged and was remanded out of custody to 17 May for trial on $150 bail.
