A 20-year-old Bulawayo commuter omnibus conductor has been arrested for have sex with a minor.

The alleged sexual encounters took place between January and April this year.

It is reported that the man, Joseph Makamera, met the girl in January when she had boarded his kombi.

He reportedly proposed love to her and she agreed to be his lover.

Makumera did not take time to invite her to his lodgings and the girl took it up.

It is said that when the girl showed up, Makumera decided to introduce her to adult games and she consented.

The two are said to have had sex once and thereafter Makumera "released" the girl after she complained of pain as it was her first time.

The sexual encounters did not stop there as the girl visited the man regularly.

It is reported that sometime in April, the girl was once again invited by Makumera to his lodgings.

She went there and during the visit the two had sex.

The man's company seemingly had telling effects on the girl as she refused to go home early and consummated with him until late at night.

On noticing that it was late, the girl asked the man to accompany her home.

On arrival, the girl's parents who were seething in anger over her wayward behaviour told her to go back where she came from.

She did not and stood by the door until morning.

She was then ordered to get into the house and asked where she had been.

She reportedly pointed the finger at Makumera for her late return.

A report was made to the police leading to the man's arrest.

Makumera appeared before provincial magistrate, Mr Willard Maphios Moyo on charges of rape. He was remanded to 22 May.
