Man indecently assaults maid

A Luveve man was yesterday fined $100 or two months in jail for indecently assaulting his maid as she relieved herself.
The 33-year-old man pleaded not guilty to charges of indecent assault, public indecency and threatening to kill the complainant, but was convicted by West Commonage magistrate Mr Themba Chimiso.
The accused was further slapped with another three months in jail for threatening to kill the woman if she reported the matter.
The sentence was, however, wholly suspended for five years on condition that he does not within that period commit a similar offence.
The prosecutor, Mrs Charity Nyathi, said on 22 May at about 11pm, the accused who was in his bedroom, heard the complainant's footsteps as she was going to the toilet. He then followed the woman to the toilet where he forcibly opened the door and entered the room.
The court heard that while inside, the accused grabbed the woman by her waist. The complainant bolted out of the toilet and went to her room. As if that was not enough, the accused later went to the woman's room while she was asleep at around 2am. He was half naked.
The accused threatened to kill the complainant if she reported the matter to the police before he left the room. The woman reported the matter to the police leading to the accused's arrest.
