A Bulawayo family is appealing for help after their 8-year-old girl was run over by a car on her way to school last week.

Precious Ngwenya was on her way to Khumalo Primary school on June 13 when she fell off an ET when the door opened as it turned.

She was run over by the car behind and her one leg was immediately severed and the other broken.

Precious is now double amputee at the United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH).

She needed 6 units of blood but only got 3 due to shortages.

When Bulawayo24 visited the UBH on Wednesday, Precious was playing with some toys which together with clothes were donated by the Bulawayo community led by Shiralee Taylor.

Precious' mother Mrs Ngwenya was by her bedside.

Shiralee Taylor has gone on the social media in a bid to raise funds for a wheelchair and prosthesis for the 8-year-old girl.

When our correspondent contacted Mr Ngwenya by telephone, he said his family really appreciate what the Bulawayo community has done them.

He is appealing to anyone who can help in cash or kind.

For more information contact Mr Ngwenya (Precious's father) on 00263775950511.
