Allan Chishapara of Bulawayo has been sentenced to four months in jail after he punched and head-butted his 60 year-old dad for rebuking him over his cannabis smoking habits.
Magistrate Maphios Moyo found Allan Chishapara, 26, guilty of physical abuse and sentenced him to six months in jail, suspending two for five years.
The court heard that the attack occurred on June 29 when Allan returned to the family's Cowdry Park home high after allegedly smoking cannabis.
Prosecutor, Tatenda Dakwa, said Allan found his father, Vengesai Chishapira, at home and went straight to his bedroom, intending to sniff glue.
The father however, followed and started rebuking him over his drug habits but Allan would have none of it and allegedly went on a rampage.
The prosecutor said Allan started insulting his father and proceeded to head-butt and punch him all over the face.
The elder Chishapira was left with injuries on the face as his son fled from home.
A report was later made to the police leading to Allan's arrest.
