Jilted lover collapses

THERE is nothing as painful as heart-break.
Ask a Bulawayo man who failed to stomach the idea that his girlfriend had ditched him and so collapsed and spent three weeks in hospital as he suffered from heartbreak.
Aleck Phiri (24) learnt it the hard way that one does not have to "love someone 100 percent without leaving space for disappointment" as that could kill you if you fail to come to terms with that you are not worth it.
Phiri revealed to reporters that he almost went to the divine world after his girlfriend dumped him on the day she was supposed to meet his (Phiri) family.
"I just failed to come to make sense out of what Noma had just told me. She just told me it was over and no reason whatsoever so when I arrived home I just fell down and only woke up when I was at Mpilo Hospital," said Phiri.
He said what worsened the situation was that he had already told his family that he was bringing a daughter-in-law for them and so his uncles and sisters were eagerly waiting.
He tried to persuade Noma so that she could maybe pretend to cover up the situation but she could not buy his idea.
"I saw my world crumbling under my feet and that my family would take me for a fool as they have always demanded to see my girlfriend, so on that day I wanted to show them the long-awaited girlfriend," said Phiri.
He returned home suffering from heartbreak, a condition that does not have painkillers.
Upon arrival at his place, Phiri broke the sad news and as soon as he finished narrating the unfortunate incident he j collapsed and was ferried to Mpilo hospital where he was admitted for three weeks.
"I was stressed and I thought that maybe Noma would realise how much I loved her but instead she moved to stay in Mzilikazi and did not even bother to visit me at the hospital," revealed Phiri.
He said that he learnt it the hard way that you should not love someone with all your heart and since that time he is afraid of being in a relationship because he thinks that he would not survive heartbreak.
Efforts to get a comment from the woman were fruitless as her whereabouts were unknown since she changed her place of residence soon after the incident.
