A man was turned away at Stanley Hall after he tried to vote twice, Radio Dialogue reported.

The presiding officer at the polling centre situated in Makokoba, Ms Gugulethu Sibanda said the man was turned away after a laser machine picked up the indelible ink on his finger.

"Polling officers noticed that there were traces of ink on his finger and the laser machine confirmed it. We were left with no choice but to turn him away," she said.

Ms Sibanda said the man tried to resist but walked away after police officers manning the station were called.

"He was insisting on voting but there was no way we could have allowed him and we had to call police officers and that is when he left."

Apart from the incident, the presiding officer said three other people were turned away because they had "misplaced" their wards.

"Three other people were sent back because they had misplaced their wards." she said.
