A 48-YEAR-OLD man had his head bashed onto a concrete slab by a friend he was drinking beer with in Njube suburb, Bulawayo, yesterday.
The now-deceased was drinking with Themba Masuku and Mbonisi Tshunga, when a quarrel broke out. Tshunga said he had just left to buy more beer when he was called by the deceased's niece, telling him that her uncle and Masuku were fighting.
"The two were fighting inside the house and I stopped them," he said.
"When Masuku left the house, the deceased emerged with an axe. The two wrestled for the axe and I again intervened and took the axe away."
Masuku went on to smash the deceased's head onto a concrete slab.
A report was made to the police, leading to Masuku's arrest. However, police spokesman, Constable Mandlenkosi Moyo said he had not received confirmation of the incident.
