Unicef has extended its 50% donation of water treatment chemicals to Bulawayo City Council (BCC) two months.
The latest council report revealed the arrangement had been extended to June 30.
"Unicef has extended their donation for the coming three months, up to June 30, at 50% usage per month and council would meet the balance of 50%," stated the report.
In January, the local authority was left in a quandary after Unicef indicated that it would stop supplying local authorities with chlorine gas.
Two months ago, the cash-strapped local authority was under pressure to raise funds to purchase water treatment chemicals.
"The quality of treated water currently needed some improvement due to dilapidated filter beds and clarifiers," read the report.
"The raw water in the dams, particularly Umzingwane Dam, was very turbid and therefore required the use of lots of treatment chemicals, efficient clarifiers and filter beds to treat it to standard quality."
Other companies that were currently assisting the local authority with chemicals include AI Davies, Azimex, Chemplex and Consolidated Engineers and Merchants.
