THE family of Thobekile Nkala, who was injured when she was hit by a vehicle belonging to former Warriors skipper Peter Ndlovu that was being driven by a young woman believed to be his daughter, yesterday claimed she was out of danger.

Nkala (30) sustained serious bilateral ankle fractures and a skull fracture.

She was admitted at the United Bulawayo Hospitals intensive care unit (ICU) and the hospital's medical sources on Tuesday said she was moved to a general ward.

Although Nkala had been moved from the ICU medical sources said she remained in a serious but stable condition. However, her two brothers Patrick and Themba Nkala, who visited Southern Eye offices yesterday, declared that their sister was out of danger.

"She is not confused. She is out of danger," Patrick said.

"The reason she was taken out of ICU shows that she has made tremendous progress.

"When we visited her, she was calling everyone by name. She was eating and talking. We are happy with her progress," Themba said.

Themba said doctors attending to their sister had informed them that she was out of danger and had in fact, suffered minor injuries.

The Nkala brothers said the Ndlovu family has been very co-operative from the day of the accident.

"They (Ndlovu family) have been there for the Nkala family. We thank them for that. We thank God our sister is alive," they added.
