A WOMAN was stabbed three times in a frenzied knife attack by her neighbour - for allegedly calling her a habitual flirt.
Evidence Nyathi was stabbed three times in the chest by Nomagugu Dube (22) of Bulawayo's Cowdray Park suburb, a court heard.
Yesterday, Dube appeared before Bulawayo magistrate charged with attempted murder over the 8 October stabbing.
She was remanded to tomorrow on $60 bail.
Magistrate Mrs Gladmore Mushove heard how Dube flew into a rage and confronted Nyathi, who had just returned from a football match at Cleremont Mine in Fort Rixon.
She accused Nyathi of "spreading rumours about her alleged sexual encounters with different men", said Tafadzwa Mutsambiwa, prosecuting.
The two women were soon locked in a heated argument, which degenerated into fist-fight, the court was told.
Dube, fearing that she was being overpowered, allegedly pulled out a kitchen knife and stabbed Nyathi three times in the chest.
She fled the scene, the court heard, leaving Nyathi lying helplessly in a pool of her own blood.
Passersby found the victim writhing in pain and took her to a local clinic.
