MDC leaders goes into hibernation

THE MDC led by Professor Welshman Ncube has collapsed amid revelations it has closed its provincial offices in almost all provinces, including Bulawayo with the party's youth wing roundly criticising the leadership for going into hibernation.
Party insiders said Professor Ncube "has gone into hiding" since his defeat to Zanu-PF in the July harmonized elections. The MDC was formed in 2005 after the split of the main MDC over participation in Senate elections.
The MDC has not held a national council meeting since the July 31 harmonised elections to take stock of its performance in the polls won resoundingly by Zanu-PF while Priscilla Misihairabwi-Mushonga's imposition under proportional representation seat in Matabeleland South, has wrecked the party.
"The party has closed down its provincial offices in Bulawayo, Matabeleland North, Midlands North, Midlands South, Masvingo, Mashonaland West and Manicaland. The Bulawayo provincial offices that were situated along Jason Moyo and Second Avenue were closed down last week.
"Last month we closed down our Masvingo provincial offices, Midlands North and South provincial offices that were in Gweru and Kwekwe, were also closed. We also shut down our provincial offices in Manicaland (Mutare), Mashonaland West (Chinhoyi) and Matabeleland North (Lupane)," said MDC provincial youth secretary for Bulawayo, Mr Ntando Ndlovu.
He said the MDC was fast collapsing.
"We are on the brink of collapse. If Ncube does not urgently intervene the MDC will definitely collapse. The problem is that Ncube is nowhere to be seen. He went into hiding after elections. He is not picking his phone. He is not responding to e-mails." Mr Ndlovu said.
