POLICE in Bulawayo have arrested more than 100 people at passport office accusing them of loitering zimbabwefocus.com reported.

The incident happened early Wednesday morning.

"A group of policemen stormed the area and told everyone at the site that they are under arrest for loitering.

"It was surprising that most of the people arrested where in the queue for national identification cards and passports" said an eye witness.

The Bulawayo passport office is continuously overwhelmed by the number of people applying and collecting their passports.

Home Affairs Minister Kembo Mohadi recently said Zimbabweans will, as from next year, have only to wait for 10 days to get their passports.

The ministry says it was taking over the printing of passports thereby cutting waiting times. Passports are printed by Fidelity Printers at the moment.
