HIGHLANDERS coach Kelvin Kaindu's house in Zambia was yesterday morning gutted by fire that destroyed a few household goods in the lounge.

While efforts to talk to Kaindu were in vain last night as his Zambian mobile phone went unanswered, Highlanders chairman Peter Dube confirmed the incident which he however described as "a minor fire mishap".

"We don't have full details but we understand there was a fire mishap at his house but nothing substantial was destroyed, just try and get hold of him, he might give you a clearer picture," said Dube.

A close confidante to the Zambian coach, who penned a new two year contract extension deal with the Mbada Diamonds Cup holders, also confirmed the fire and the minimum damage to property.

"Naturally it's scary to have a property on fire but it was not really that destructive, no one was hurt just a few household items," said the confidante.

It's also not clear what exactly caused the fire.
