BULAWAYO - A Mahatshula man, 43, recently ran amok and bashed his wife after she served him isitshwala and beans for supper.
Bulawayo magistrate Gladmore Mushove heard this on Friday during the initial appearance of Thulani Mlilo of Mahatshula North suburb who is charged with physical abuse as defined in Section 3 (1) of the Domestic Violence Act Chapter 5:16.
Mlilo, who was not asked to plead, was remanded out of custody to 30 December on his own cognisance.
The State case as presented by Kudakwashe Jarawaza is that the accused came home drunk on 18 December.
Upon arrival Mlilo demanded supper from his wife Letween Madhava, 31, who later served him isitshwala and beans.
The court heard this infuriated Mlilo who flew into a rage and descended upon his wife accusing her of disrespecting him by serving him isitshwala and beans instead of meat she had served him in the afternoon.
The enraged Mlilo is alleged to have repeatedly slapped and kicked his wife on the face. Fearing for her life the complainant who was pleading for mercy throughout the alleged physical abuse stormed out of the room and came back later after making a report to the police leading to the arrest of Mlilo.
