POLICE are investigating the disappearance of a 12-year-old girl from Bulawayo's Barbourfields suburb who went missing on Friday last week after boarding a bus from Nkayi and heading for Bulawayo.

Valenciah Nkosi was last seen when her bus had a breakdown.

The girl's father, Precious Nkosi, said Valenciah was accompanied by her grandmother to the bus stop.

"She had visited her grandmother in Siganda for the holidays and on Friday she was accompanied to the bus stop to board a bus to town," said Nkosi.

"Unfortunately, the bus had a breakdown along the way and that is when she was last seen by the passengers and conductors."

Nkosi said the conductor said she was last seen with a boy of her age.

"They suspect that the unidentified boy could have left with Valenciah," he said.

He said Valenciah did not arrive in Bulawayo on the following day with any of the transporters, which the bus crew had organised for passengers.

"She was wearing a beige skirt, yellow T-shirt and a jean jacket. I am stressed because my daughter is not safe, she might be raped by strangers," said Nkosi, who said he has made a report to the police.

He appealed to members of the public to contact him on 0773015088 or visit Number 191 Barbourfields with any information that can help him locate his daughter.
