Prominent Bulawayo bus operator Ray Dokotela Moyo who operated Dokotela Bus Services has died.

Dokotela Moyo died early hours of Sunday morning at his Selbourne Park home in Bulawayo after a short illness. The exact details of the nature of the illness have not been disclosed.

Dokotela Moyo whose buses plied the busy Bulawayo - Gaborone route and major parts of Nkayi District is described by many as a sad loss to the communities of Matebeleland where he was involved in a lot of charity work. According to reports Moyo has over the years paid school fees for thousands of underprivileged children in his community.

In 2008 Dokotela Moyo was acquitted at the Bulawayo magistrates courts after being accused of being involved in near shoot out with rival Fellowship Bus Services over the lucrative Bulawayo - Gaborone route. He had been accused of hiring two gun men to kill Sibonginkosi Moyo an inspector with Fellowship Bus Service. The case was thrown out of the courts due to insufficient evidence as the suspected weapons could not be brought to court.

Mourners are gathered at his Selbourne Park home in Bulawayo and details of his burial have not yet been made available. Moyo is survived by several children most of whom are living outside the country.
